Speech/Language Therapy focuses on helping individuals of all ages attain functional communication and language skills in all areas of their lives.

Functional communication and language skills that Speech/Language Pathologists address include:

  • Auditory Comprehension of the spoken language
  • Naming, word finding, grammar and syntax
  • Organizational language skills
  • Reading recognition of symbols and reading comprehension
  • Language structural skills both oral and written
  • Cognitive language skills
  • Short term memory skills and attending skills
  • Following verbal and written directions
  • Social language skills
  • Verbal and written expression skills

Speech/Language services include an individualized evaluation to assess the client’s skills and areas of difficulty with the creation of a treatment plan with specific goals to address those targeted areas of concern. If results indicate that speech/language services are needed, the client is scheduled for treatment sessions to follow the plan of care.

Speech/language therapy services at Timber Creek Therapies include many tools found in the treatment room, hippotherapy on horseback and a cognitive treatment area designed to address functional skills needed for independence.
